Jinnaidah elected a chairman unanimously elected on the last day of nomination papers for the postponed union union at Kaliganj

Jinnaidah's Kaliganj upazila will be held on October 31 after the two union elections due to the complexity of the border.
On the last day of filing of nominations, six candidates in two unions submitted their nomination papers.
Of these, only nomination of Awami League nominated chairman Nirmir Uddin Chowdhury of Shimla-Rokanpur Union in 5 submitted the nomination.
As a result, he will be elected unopposed as chairman, said the election office. Besides, 7 candidates for reserved women seats in the same union and 22 candidates for general male membership submitted their nomination.
On the other hand, five chairman candidates from Raigam Union of 7 submitted their nomination papers.
Ali Hossain Apu from Awami League, Moshiar Rahman from BNP, Anwar Hossain from the Islamic Movement, Mahbubur Rahman and Jahurul Islam nominated the nomination papers as independent candidates.
In reserved women seats, 37 candidates have been nominated for 9 and general male member posts.
According to the schedule, the nomination paper will be selected by Returning Officer on 7 October (Friday). Last date for withdrawal of candidacy is October 14 (Friday). The elections will be held in two unions on 31 October.
Kaliganj Upazila Election Officer Jahangir Alam Rakib said that preparations for proper voting in the two union elections held under the commission's letter were being accepted.
